The one size fits all 1a Guacamole Dip is a traditional Mexican staple that has gained international fame. Known for its refreshing flavours and versatility, it is believed to have been invented by the Aztecs around the 16th century. It's a simple mixture of mashed avocados, lime juice, tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and jalapenos, but the harmony of the ingredients bring about a wonderful explosion of taste.
Ingredients:
- 3 ripe Avocados
- 1 finely chopped Red Onion
- 1 chopped Tomato
- 1 finely chopped Jalapeno
- 2 chopped cloves of Garlic
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh Cilantro
- 1 freshly squeezed Lime
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Preparation:
- Prepare the Base: Cut the avocados in half and remove the seed. Scoop out the avocado into a bowl and mash it using a fork until you reach your desired consistency (some like it chunky, some like it smooth). Add in the chopped red onion, tomato, jalapeno, garlic and cilantro. Mix all these ingredients together. Pour in the freshly squeezed lime juice and mix it all until combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve and Garnish: Transfer the guacamole into a serving bowl and garnish with a few more chopped cilantro leaves on top for presentation. Serve with your favorite nachos, tortilla chips, or even as a topping on toast. Enjoy this fresh and wholesome dip with your loved ones.
Tip:
Always use ripe avocados for guacamole. They should feel soft yet still have a little firmness when gently squeezed. If you bought them green, allow them to ripen at room temperature over a few days until they reach the perfect consistency. If you want to stop your guacamole from browning, store it with the pit of the avocado or add more lime juice on top. This recipe is best enjoyed immediately, but you can store it in an airtight container in the fridge up to one day.
